Divorce FAQ – What age can a child be left home alone?

When considering parenting time, daycare, and the overall parenting plan in a divorce in Tennessee, the question often comes up regarding the age a child can be left at home. This question does not have an easy answer as it depends on the circumstances. The Tennessee courts have stated there is no legal age for kids to be able to stay home alone, but suggest a child under 10 should not be left without supervision. Over 10 years old seems to be left to certain factors such as the length of time left alone and the maturity of the child.
