A deadly car accident occurred early this morning on I-65 when a car entered the wrong direction on the interstate and collided with another car head on. It is being reported that the driver of the car traveling the correct direction died at the scene of the accident. I-65 remains closed this morning as accident crews gather information from the scene. Often when there is a car accident in Tennessee that results in a death, the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) of the Tennessee Highway Patrol is called to perform accident reconstruction and gather data. This team has state of the art equipment and undergo specific training to help analyze exactly what happened during the accident. The team then generates a report that is helpful for all parties involved in understanding why the accident took place.
Our thoughts are with the families of the people involved in the accident this morning. Even when you deal with car accidents on a daily basis, it is always sad to hear of another death.
