Can Facebook have an impact on my case?

The short answer is YES. Facebook and other social media networks such as Twitter and LinkedIn are becoming more and more popular. Many people don’t realize some of the information they put up on these sites can be visible by everyone.

We have seen this come into play quite a bit in our divorce practice. Our clients capture incriminating evidence that is used as factors in determining child custody, alimony, and other decisions by the Court during the divorce. The bottom line is that you should always be aware of what information about you is online, and who your “friends” are on Facebook that can see that information.
