Alimony in Tennessee – Supreme Court Case to watch

A divorce case was recently argued before the Tennessee Supreme Court that could have an impact on when lifetime alimony should be awarded. Alimony is based mostly on the need of one party and the ability of the other party to pay. This case could alter the definition of “need of one party” if the lifetime alimony award is upheld. As soon as the Tennessee Supreme Court publishes the opinion, which should hopefully be in the next month or so, we will have more details on alimony in the state.
