The final version of the “Tennessee Civil Justice Act of 2011″ is attached through the link above. This bill is the tort reform in Tennessee that will go into effect October 1st, 2011. It caps many of the damage awards for cases such as personal injury, car wrecks, and medical malpractice. It further categorizes damages into economic damages, non-economic damages, and punitive damages.

You can have a larger cap if your case is qualified as a “catastrophic loss or injury” which includes spinal cord injuries, amputation of two hands, two feet, or one of each, severe burns over most of your body, or the wrongful death of a parent in certain circumstances.
